A Good Friday Meditation: It Is Finished (April 3, 2015)

It Is Finished
April 3, 2015

When Jesus had received the wine, he said, "It is finished."  Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit."  John 29:30

But he was wounded for our transgressions,
crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the punishment that made us whole,
and by his bruises we are healed.  Isaiah 53:5

I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me.  And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.  Galatians 2:19b-20

Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, and being born in human likeness.  And being found in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death--even death on a cross.  Therefor God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Chrsit is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.  Philippians 2:5-11
